// DEVELOPERS //
We need computer cowboys and cowgirls like yourself to wrangle data into something useful.
That means visualization, notification, integration, etc., all in the name of doing something crazy and fantastic.
// DESIGNERS //
We need people like you to make the everything look amazing, feel intuitive, and have a smooth user
experience. The best application in the world that no one can use... isn't much use! You know the drill.
// POLICY WONKS //
We heard you folks like books and eat catalogs of data for breakfast. You beautiful people
are going to scour the earth for interesting data, help the rest of us figure out what’s important, and generally
be useful.
// DATA ANALYSTS //
YES! YOU ARE SO NEEDED. Seriously. While we can find it, blow it up, calculate it, and make it
look pretty, we needs us some mean number crunchin’ to present meaningful visualizations. Join up.
// CITIZENS //
We need you the most. If it weren’t for you, this whole thing wouldn’t be happening. We need ideas,
cheerleaders, and friends to spread the word.
Here's one example of a project we could pull together...
Email ideas@caryopendataday.org and tell us about your idea.

This is a great idea? What made you think of it?
We are actually taking part in a much broader movement. International Open Data Day has events in dozens of cities worldwide on one day. This is their second year, and the first time that Cary is participating. You can find Cary’s page on the international site’s wiki here.
My teenage son/daughter is better at computers than I am. Is it okay to bring kids?
We actively encourage people at all age levels and skill levels. Kids are also welcome to bring along a less technically capable parent.
I do not live or work in Cary. Can I still come to the hackathon?
Abso-hacking-lutelty! There is no closed door policy for an Open Data Day. There is no requirement to use data for or from the Town of Cary, either. You can hack away for Cary, with Cary, or simply in Cary.
What do I need to bring with me?
A laptop, an appetite, and bags of enthusiasm.
